Our Organic Premium Green tea is expertly processed from beautifully handled leaves that are steam dried in the traditional Japanese style to preserve the flavor, fragrance, and color of the fresh leaf. The finished tea leaves are a vibrant green that brew into a bright golden-green liquor with a delicately herbaceous, slightly sweet and slightly nutty flavor.
In 1690 the Yamamoto family began producing premium teas in Japan. Today Yamamotoyama is the largest and one of the oldest family run tea companies in the world. In the early 1970s an executive of Yamamotoyama discovered an area perfect for tea production in central Brazil. This was a wonderful opportunity, as Japan had limited land to expand Yamamotoyama's tea production.
Brazil was also chosen for its season, which begins in September (which is opposite from that of Japan), its very rich and fertile soil, and perfect tea growing climate with fog and heavy dews. The best tea bushes and their seedlings were hand picked from Japan and taken to Brazil.
